technical production mastery
“NTE 2023: The Christ We Proclaim” was a standout project, showcasing Red Globe’s prowess in technical production services. In partnership with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES), we played a pivotal role in their National Training Event. This annual gathering at Exhibition Park in Canberra attracts over 2000 university students and graduates. Our comprehensive services included site internet, rigging, and PA systems for the Fitzroy Pavilion. Moreover, we provided essential audio-visual equipment like advanced video switching, audio consoles, and stage microphones.
Collaborative Efforts for Flawless Execution
Working alongside James Kirsop, AFES’ NTE Technical Director, we achieved a seamless technical setup. Central to our efforts were the Allen & Heath dLive consoles, crucial for the main venue’s production overseen by EI Productions. Video was provided by PLP.tv. Additionally, we managed various aspects such as audio layouts, networking, stage boxes, and microphone setups. Notably, our Shure Axient Wireless and Sennheiser E-965 mics delivered impeccable audio quality. Moreover, DPA 4097 mics facilitated the sharing of congregational singing between venues, ensuring a unified experience.
Red Globe’s team and expertise made a hugely positive impact to NTE and particularly the requirement of linking our two main rooms of 1550 and 700 people for our all-in sessions. This year, one of our primary goals was to ensure that the smaller capacity room felt well connected and integrated during the these sessions.
James Kirsop, NTE Technical Director
To help us achieve this RGP’s network and audio infrastructure was critical. Being able to share all audio inputs, have MA-Net and S.ACN lighting control data across the network in both spaces (with control primarily performed from a single GrandMA 2 console in the larger room with a secondary laptop in our smaller room) and connectivity to both dLive systems from where ever we were on site meant that we were able to streamline operations while having the flexibility to run the two venues either in a shared mode, or as two independent spaces. This flexibility was a significant factor in the success of the event.
Innovative Solutions for Connectivity and Audio
Our innovative vRouter product was instrumental in providing reliable, site-wide wireless connectivity. Utilizing UniFi Access Points and powered by both Starlink and 5G Internet, it ensured uninterrupted internet access for the conference team. In the Fitzroy Pavilion, an overflow venue, we deployed our Martin Audio Torus line array and Martin Audio SX118 Subs. We also enhanced the venue’s look with our draping solutions. For the main venue, we provided video distribution using Magewell NDI Converters, preview monitors and BlackMagic Multiview for ProPresenter’s lyric display.
Meticulous Planning and Design
The Fitzroy Pavilion’s layout received meticulous attention from our team. We ensured that seating and rigging complied with the venue’s load ratings and standards. We provided detailed site designs, FEA reports, and certifications. A 300m Fibre Optic link for protocols like GigaACE, Dante, ArtNET, and sACN, connected the venues seamlessly.
Acknowledging the Team’s Efforts
We owe a huge thanks to Michael Clewes and Guy Burge for their exceptional installation and bump-out work. Andrew Yager’s production design was crucial to the success of this event. This project highlighted our unwavering dedication to delivering top-tier technical production services.
