AUDIO, LIGHTING AND LED SCREEN DESIGN
The Australian Performing Arts College‘s annual showcase concert is always a much-anticipated event, and this year was no exception. Titled ‘Illustrious’, the concert highlighted the incredible talents of students aged 2 to 18, spanning acting, vocal, and dance performances.
For this spectacular event, Red Globe had the pleasure of providing Audio, Lighting, and Projection services, complementing the Concourse Theatre’s existing house fixtures in Chatswood. Our collaboration with the APAC’s outstanding creative team, led by Katherine Earle-McLean, was a journey of creativity and precision.
Punctuated by pre-prepared video packages exploring a creative narrative of intrigue, this showcase transitioned through several themes with both pre-recorded and live vocal performance and dance.
Andrew Yager was the mastermind behind the live audio design, ensuring every performance was heard in its best light. Michael Clewes brought his expertise to the table with his engaging lighting design, while Andrew Yager also dazzled the audience with his LED Screen design. David Fabri played a crucial role in projection operation and technical support, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Lighting Technical Support and Followspot was provided by Jonathan Boer from SimpleMotion.Lighting.
Production Planning
This project was a considerable challenge, given the limited in-venue rehearsal time and the scale of a four-hour show. As a result, we made extensive use of Pre-Visualisation using Capture to ensure that we were working to create the best possible visual experience for the production, including previewing video content via NDI.
APAC’s Joel McClean took the lead on audio pre-production and edits, setting the stage for a flawless auditory experience with beautifully mastered audio stems that were played live through QLab. Projection content was provided by APAC, with additional content supplied by Red Globe Productions.
Thanks
It was an absolute privilege to work alongside such talented young performers. We are proud to have contributed to a platform that celebrated their year’s worth of dedication and hard work, culminating in a truly fantastic performance.
Red Globe is thankful for the support of SimpleMotion.Lighting and EI Productions for this production.
