Holroyd Music & Dramatic Society brought River City to life with their spirited and heartfelt production of The Music Man, and Red Globe Productions was proud to support the show with a full suite of lighting, audio, staging, and video solutions. From lively fanfares to tender moments, Red Globe delivered technical excellence that enhanced every beat of Meredith Willson’s beloved classic.
Lighting That Hits Every Note
To capture the vibrant energy and nostalgic charm of The Music Man, Red Globe provided a focused lighting setup featuring Chauvet Professional Maverick MK1 Hybrids and Robe T1s. These fixtures created crisp, dynamic effects and warm theatrical washes, perfectly complementing the storytelling and musical rhythms on stage. Additionally, F34 truss was rigged into the ceiling and utilised as lighting bars, providing versatile support for the lighting design and smooth operation.
Clear, Reliable Audio
The production’s rich vocals and lively orchestration were supported by an Allen & Heath D-Live C3500 mixing console, paired with Sennheiser EW-DX wireless systems and monitored with Dante Wavetool for precise RF management and audio clarity. Performers were mic’d using a combination of JAG and DPA headset microphones, delivering clear, natural sound and reliable wireless performance.
The orchestra was captured with a carefully selected mix of DPA microphones, including The DPA DDK Drum Kit and 4099 models, alongside Sennheiser e965 microphones for pit singers, ensuring every instrumental and vocal nuance was faithfully conveyed.
Video Support for Seamless Coordination
To enhance communication and timing, Red Globe provided dedicated video support via Black Magic 4K cameras, allowing the conductor and cast to see each other in real time. This integration helped maintain tight musical and performance coordination throughout the production.
A Traverse Theatre Setup
This production was staged in an engaging traverse theatre configuration, adding intimacy and immediacy to the performance. Red Globe’s technical solutions were designed and adapted specifically to maximise sightlines, lighting coverage, and sound clarity within this unique space.
