Massive 81sqm VuePix GX2 LED Screen System now at Red Globe

Sydney, Australia – 18th November 2025 – Red Globe Productions has just taken delivery of 81 square metres of VuePix GX2 LED screen – and it’s already proven itself under fire.

The system made its debut at the Australian Performing Arts College’s “Final Call” showcase last week, running over 206 custom visualisations across a marathon 3.5-hour performance. If you’re going to test a new LED wall, throwing it straight into a multi-genre arts showcase is one way to do it.

Why 2.97mm Matters

The 2.97mm pixel pitch isn’t arbitrary – it’s the broadcast standard. That means the screens look great on camera – whether it’s a locked-off shot or a moving camera. Red Globe can now service film and television work alongside live events, something the company’s previous 25 square metres of 10mm screen couldn’t touch. With 4K worth of panels, the system can be configured as a single massive 11.5×7 metre backdrop, split into multiple screens, or arranged in whatever creative configuration a production demands.

But here’s what really matters for theatre work: the panels deliver rich blacks and maintain excellent colour depth even when run at lower brightness levels. Theatre isn’t about blasting lumens – it’s about control and atmosphere. The low-reflection surface means stage lighting doesn’t create unwanted glare, giving lighting designers the control they need.

“This has been a long-term goal for us,” said Andrew Yager, Director of Red Globe Productions. “Being able to create stage visuals at this scale, or set up comprehensive conference displays – it opens up so many possibilities. And honestly, seeing it perform at the APAC showcase exceeded what we’d hoped for. Everyone was amazed.”

Built for Real Production Work

The VuePix GX2 panels are built from die-cast magnesium and aluminium alloy – lightweight enough to rig quickly but tough enough for touring. The system comes in both full panels (1000×500mm) and half panels (500×500mm), with enhanced corner protection that’s already proven its worth during transport and setup.

Behind the scenes, NovaStar VX2000 Pro processors handle the heavy lifting – managing up to 13 million pixels with 4K input, 12-layer display capability, and pixel-level calibration. Red Globe has invested in both ground-stacking and suspension rigging systems, giving the team fully redundant flexibility for different venues and configurations.

The 3,840Hz refresh rate means the screens are completely flicker-free on both still and moving cameras – critical for broadcast and film applications where you can’t have rolling bars or moiré patterns ruining your shots, whether you’re on sticks or tracking. At 1,000 nits brightness, there’s plenty of output for most applications while still being able to dial down for theatrical subtlety.

Michael Clewes, who lit the “Final Call” showcase and also serves as Red Globe’s Sales Manager, was particularly impressed with how the screens handled theatrical lighting. “The colour saturation is beautiful, and the blacks are actually black – that’s huge for us. What really stood out was how well the colour depth holds when we dim the screens down for theatre work. You don’t lose that richness. And because the surface doesn’t reflect our stage lighting back at the audience, we can light the performers without fighting glare off the screen.”

Already Booked Solid

The screens are already committed through February, with only limited availability for select dates. The 2.97mm pitch specification opens doors that weren’t available before – broadcast work, virtual production, and corporate events where image quality can’t be compromised.

This investment pushes Red Globe further into the corporate and conference market while strengthening what the company already does well in theatre and live events. It’s also a statement of intent – Red Globe is playing in the same league as the major metropolitan providers now.

The company thanks Jory Enright and the team at ULA Group for getting the system delivered, configured, and ready for its APAC debut.
